Privacy policy

The short version

This website does not ask for, store or sell your personal information. There are no accounts, no cookies, no advertising and no analytics or tracking scripts. Nothing you type on this site is sent anywhere: the optional My business details are kept only in your own browser.

What is processed when you visit

  • Hosting logs. Like any website, the hosting provider that serves these pages automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used only to deliver the website and protect it against abuse, and is kept by the hosting provider under its own privacy policy.
  • Calendar subscriptions. If you subscribe to a briefing calendar, your calendar app fetches the file from this website from time to time. Only the hosting logs above are created; nothing identifies you to BidCheck.
  • The points calculator runs entirely in your browser. What you select is never sent anywhere.

People named in tender documents

Tender documents sometimes contain the names, email addresses and phone numbers of officials. BidCheck does not republish them: they are removed automatically, and the website links to the eTenders Portal for contact details instead.

My business details stay on your device

The My business page lets you save your CIDB grading, location, B-BBEE level and ownership percentages so tender pages can estimate whether you qualify. These details are saved only in your own browser (its local storage). They are never sent to BidCheck or to anyone else: the comparison is worked out on your device, and the website has no server that could receive them. Ownership details can say something about the owners' race, gender, age or disability, which is why they are never collected. You can delete them at any time with the "Clear my details" button, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Future services

If BidCheck later offers accounts or alerts, this policy will be updated first. You will be told what information is collected and why, it will be limited to what the service needs, and you will only receive marketing messages if you have agreed to them, as POPIA requires.

Security

The website is a set of static pages with no database or login behind it. It is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS) with security headers that block outside scripts, framing by other websites and access to your camera, microphone and location.

Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
