Preference points calculator

How many preference points your B-BBEE level earns on the standard tables in the tender forms. Use it as a starting point: since 2023 each buyer sets its own specific goals, so the table in each tender decides.

Why your real points can differ

Under the Preferential Procurement Regulations of 2022, each organ of state chooses its own specific goals. Many still use the B-BBEE level table above. Others give the points for something else, for example:

  • Location: points for being based in the municipality, district or province.
  • Ownership: points for ownership by black people, women, youth or people with disabilities, often scaled by the percentage owned.
  • Business size: points for EMEs and QSEs, or for subcontracting to them.

The tender pages on BidCheck show the goals table for each tender where it could be read reliably, with the page it came from. Points are only awarded if you include the proof the tender asks for, such as a B-BBEE certificate, a sworn affidavit or CIPC documents.
